CLAREMONT, N.C. —
Investigators in Catawba County spent the night looking into the second officer involved shooting in 24 hours. A domestic call brought deputies to the scene on Gemstone Street in Claremont around 10 p.m. Tuesday. Catawba County Sheriff’s investigators said when deputies arrived, a man came out to the front yard with a gun.Deputies ordered him to put the gun down, but instead they said he pointed the gun at them.That’s when one deputy opened fire, hitting the man in the stomach.He was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center.
The State Bureau of Investigation has been called into investigate the incident.
Channel 9 is working to learn the man’s name and get more information on his condition.Deputies have not said what led to the domestic situation.
