LANCASTER, S.C. —
Investigators said a Lancaster man was part of a $300 million gambling bust that spanned six states.
Leonard Lucas was one of nine people arrested in South Carolina.
Federal investigators said a group called Allied Veterans of the World claimed to donate proceeds from Internet cafes to charities.
Instead, officials said the allied vets really ran illegal gambling center and the proceeds actually went to the organizers and for-profit companies.
A total of 57 people were arrested.
Florida’s lieutenant governor, who once consulted allied vets, has stepped down because of the investigation.
