MARSHVILLE, N.C. —

On the fourth day of searching the scene of a triple homicide, investigators finally tore down crime scene tape that had surrounded three homes on Landsford Road since Saturday.

"We feel like we have gathered all the evidence we are able to gather at the crime scene," said Union County Sheriff Eddy Cathey. "We'll take time to analyze what we've got, put (it) into perspective and move forward."

Authorities plan to move forward as deliberately as they did searching the property where Crystal Hicks, 38, Ronnie Overcash, 46, and Jerry Marsh, 61, were found.

Late Monday, investigators also searched the trailer and surrounding property of the family who found the victims' bodies on Saturday morning.

"I understand the fear in that community," said Cathey. "Until we put a man in jail and have evidence to convict and charge him, there will be uneasiness in that neighborhood."

The sheriff insists he won't bring the case to the district attorney until he's confident he has enough evidence for a conviction.
