Students at Jesse Carson High School in Rowan County are being dismissed early because of a power outage.
A fallen tree caused the outage. Officials said just as power was about to be restored, a nearby traffic accident caused further issues.
A message went out to parents to let them know of the early dismissal. Buses took students home and student drivers were dismissed. Parents of students who don’t drive or ride the bus were asked to make arrangements to have them picked up.
Officials said staff members will remain at the school until all students have left.
