Lancaster man sentenced to 130 months on gun charges

CHESTERFIELD, S.C. —

A Lancaster man was sentenced in federal court Thursday on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Dwayne Devon Curry, 32, was sentenced to 130 months in prison.

Curry had prior convictions for distribution of crack cocaine, assault with intent to kill, common law robbery, pointing a firearm at a person and burglary, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

According to prosecutors, Curry and another person were stopped for speeding in Chesterfield County. When the dup were asked to get out of the car, one of the arresting officers noticed a Taser sticking out of Curry’s pocket.

Curry also threw a loaded .40-caliber pistol and tried to run, officials said.
