HICKORY, N.C. —
When the Zahra Baker Memorial Playground opens on Saturday, parents won’t have to worry about germs on the equipment.
On Thursday, Protect It First sprayed an anti-microbial finish on all of the equipment at the playground.
The playground is named after the disabled, 10-year-old girl who was killed and dismembered by her stepmother in 2010.
The local company said the spray will protect children from diseases.
“So, after we apply this within 30 to 40 seconds, it defeats and kills that bacteria, so when that next person comes through it is safe for them to touch it,” said Protect It First representative Tom Henneessee.
A ribbon cutting is scheduled for Saturday at 11 .m. at the Kiwanis Park in Hickory.
