CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Volunteers with the American Red Cross and Salvation Army will continue operating a group of cooling stations started this weekend.
Due to today’s forecast temperature of almost 100 degrees, stations in Mecklenburg and Gaston counties will be open to offer water and snacks to people who need to escape the heat.
Officials say that it is important for people to be aware of the weather situation and act accordingly. They recommend staying hydrated and limiting outdoor exposure.
The Red Cross will be operating from 12-8 p.m. today at the Homeless Resource Center on N. College Street in Charlotte.
The Gaston location will be open from 12-6 p.m. in the Family Life Center of First United Methodist Church on East Franklin Boulevard.
