Muslim leaders in Charlotte are also speaking out against the attack in Libya.
Jibril Hough, leader of the Islamic Center, told Channel 9 the center condemns the attacks at the U.S. Consulate in Libya and that first and foremost, the thoughts and prayers of the center are with the families of the victims, specifically Ambassador Christopher Stevens and the three others who were killed.
Hough told Eyewitness News he, too, was offended by the anti-Muslim film which apparently sparked the violence.
Hough said Muslims around the world need to contain their emotions and should never have resorted to violence.
Not only did it lead to tragedy, Hough worries it also perpetuates false stereotypes about Muslims depicted in the film.
