Man arrested on suspicion of statutory rape in Concord

CONCORD, N.C. —

Wesley Allen Talbert, 30, was taken into custody Sunday by Rowan County Sheriff Office detectives at a truck yard in Concord.

Concord Police assisted with the warrant service at BAH Express and Talbert was taken into custody without incident.

Wesley had an active warrant for allegedly kidnapping a 15-year-old girl in Rowan County in April 2012.

Talbert was taken before the magistrate and ordered to be placed in the Rowan County Detention with a $100,000 bond.

Wednesday, the magistrate was presented with information concerning sexual contact by Talbert with this same 15-year-old girl. The magistrate found probable cause in this case, and five warrants for statutory rape of a 14- and 15-year-old child were issued.

The magistrate increased the bond to $200,000 secured bond.

Talbert remains in the Rowan County Detention Center.
