STANLY COUNTY, N.C. —
A man has been charged with murder after two people were found dead in their home.
Firefighters were called to a fire at a mobile home on Smiley Road in Stanly County last week.
Earnest Hopkins, 85, and Thelma Britt, 77, were found dead inside the home, officials said.
Investigators said they determined that the fire was intentionally set and that the deaths of the two people were not of natural causes.
Brandon Coggins, 27, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He is in custody with no bond, officials said.
