Woman rescued by NC National Guard crew after breaking leg at Linville Gorge
LINVILLE GORGE, N.C. —
A woman had to be rescued from Linville Gorge by North Carolina National Guard members after falling off the trail, officials reported.
The injury happened on the Babel Tower Trail inside Pisgah National Forest.
According to the NC National Guard’s official Twitter account, a crew was sent to rescue the woman in a Blackhawk UH-60. Charlotte fire officials said three firefighters joined the NC HART group on the rescue mission.
Officials said the woman was 49 years old and from Georgia. She told EMS officials she was walking on the Babel Tower trail when she tripped and fell about 15 feet.
EMS officials said she was taken to a nearby hospital for a small cut on her head and a knee injury.
