Man sentenced to 30 years for killing girlfriend, taking son

By Greg Suskin

ROCK HILL, S.C. —

A Rock Hill Man pleaded guilty Monday morning to killing his ex-girlfriend and taking their 2-year-old son last summer.

Carl White was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the crime.

White shot Charlette Robinson during an argument, then ran with their 2-year-old son, Zaylen.

An AMBER Alert was issued and White was stopped on the interstate in Aiken, S.C., the next day. Police said the boy was still in the car and White was intoxicated.

Some family members were disturbed that White showed no remorse for killing Robinson during the court hearing.

“He didn’t have no kind of remorse whatsoever. He acted like nothing happened. In his demeanor, in his voice, he acted like nothing happened,” said James Edwards, Robinson’s cousin.

White’s 30-year sentence is the minimum sentence for murder.
