Eyewitness News discovered the man wanted for the murder of his pregnant co-worker has a criminal past.

Records show 22-year-old Mark Anthony Cox was convicted of conspiracy robbery with a dangerous weapon on a 2008 charge out of Halifax County.

In 2009, he was also charged with felony breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering in Wake County.

Cox served three years in prison and was released in November 2011.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police charged Cox in the murder of 25-year-old Danielle Marie Watson Saturday night.

Watson was found dead behind a dumpster at the Stonecrest Shopping Center in Ballantyne early Saturday morning.

Investigators said Cox was a co-worker of Watson’s at The Flying Biscuit Cafe.

Police believe Cox fled the scene in Watson’s 1997 baby blue Chevy Cavalier with North Carolina license plate number: ZYX1952.
