NORTH CAROLINA —

A Newton Company is being investigated by the state. The company has been accused of failing to pay farmers for wheat.

Midstate Mills purchases wheat from farmers around the state and then turns the wheat into flour.

The North Carolina Department of Agriculture says it has received complaints from several wheat growers that the company is not paying them.

The state says the company could lose its grain dealers license.
