CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Enjoy the sunny day Thursday before the clouds arrive in the evening. These clouds are associated with a big winter storm across the Midwest Thursday that is dumping over a foot of snow. The area will just see rain from the same storm. The rainy weather will start up late Thursday and last off and on throughout Friday. This will keep temperatures held down in the lower 40s at best Friday. As a matter of fact, most neighborhoods may not even reach the lower 40s.More steady rain will arrive Friday night through the first half of Saturday. Rain totals should be impressive, around one inch for the metro and higher amounts down south. In the mountains, there will be a threat for wintry weather. A mix of sleet, snow and freezing rain will arrive late Thursday and last through Friday morning.Accumulations will be light, but will cause some slick travel early in the day Friday. This activity will change to rain by Friday afternoon.
