SURVEY RESULTS CAROLINA REGIONAL MINORITY PARTNERSHIP COALITION

2012 Democratic national convention, Charlotte, NC

Shortly after the September 3-5, 2012 DNC Convention concluded, an e-mail was sent out to CRMPC's database that included over 400 persons with 100 paid members inquiring who received economic benefit from the 2012 DNC Convention and what persons' overall closing thoughts were of the convention.

47% of CRMPC members felt that the DNC was not transparent enough with who received contracts.

52% of the respondents felt that the DNC bid/contract process was rigged.
One respondent said: "The DNC already knew who was going to get contracts. They were just going through the motions with the public & CRMPC."

Another respondent said, "We'll never really know who all were awarded contracts."

3% of the CRMPC members that received work felt that the project was micromanaged by the DNC and they did not have control over the work product.
5% of contract recipients felt once a contract was acquired the details were slow coming.

64% of the respondents did not understand why the DNC was not more disclosed with information to the public. One respondent said: "The stream of information to the public on anything was not well organized, clear or timely."

72% of the respondents attended one or more DNC events. One respondent said: "I had fun. I attended Delegation events, Caucus events and TWC Arena events, but I did wonder if local or NC African-Americans made any money."

47% of CRMPC members attended the event at the Ritz-Carlton and thought it was very nice & enjoyed themselves. CRMPC Member Brad Thompson, an organizer of the event said. "It wasn't an event, it was a party."  He was pleased to see so many CRMPC members in attendance.

42% of the respondents attended the Presidential Experience and really enjoyed it. CRMPC Members the Rankins said. "It was very educational & family oriented."

93% of the respondents were proud Charlotte was the host city. One respondent said: "It was a good look for Charlotte, NC."

98% of the respondents were proud of Mayor Anthony Foxx. Co-Chair of CRMPC Colette Forrest said, "Mayor Foxx kept the President's pledge to make this the People's Convention. He gave regular citizens and hard working people the same access as Corporations & High Dollar Donors to credential & ticket only events."

97% of the respondents felt the Bank of America to Time Warner Cable venue change was chaotic. One respondent said: "I understand the reason for the change, but it seemed like they did not have a Plan B in the event of inclement weather."

63% of CRMPC members did not feel President Obama was personally aware of the challenges and difficulty African-Americans were experiencing with the DNC/Local or Host committees.

7% of CRMPC members received contracts from the DNC/Local or Host committees. 11% of CRMPC members received some economic benefit directly and/or indirectly from the 2012 DNC Convention.

2% of public respondents received contracts from the DNC/Local or Host committees. 5% of public respondents received some economic benefit directly and/or indirectly from the 2012 DNC Convention.

54% of respondents felt African-Americans would have fared better if there was more pressure on Businesses and/or Corporations to do business with African-Americans.

67% of respondents felt White Woman fared the best with acquiring contracts from DNC/Local or Host committees and the overall 2012 DNC Convention.
