CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A big developer says its plan for more apartments in Ballantyne will actually alleviate traffic problems.

Childress Klein wants to build 281 apartments at the corner of Johnston and Marvin roads. City Council held a public hearing on the issue on Monday night.

Part of the project includes the developer making changes to the current traffic patterns. The council says that will ease the congestion, but one resident said he doesn't buy it.

"There is so much about this with traffic that is wrong. You have too much traffic down there already," said David Eager.

City council will likely make a decision within the next month.
