GREENSBORO, N.C. —
Let the best lifesaving emergency responder win!
The 23rd annual North Carolina Paramedic Competition gets under way Sunday in Greensboro.
Teams are called out one by one to face the same mock emergency situation, then graded by judges deciding who is best with a fast and thorough assessment and appropriate treatment.
Regional champions this year come from Davidson, Rowan, Surry, Pender and Cumberland counties. They face defending the state champs from Leland Fire/ Rescue in Brunswick County.
The competition helps improve the skills of the contestants as well as the 400 or so watching paramedics and emergency medical technicians.
The competition is part of an annual conference on emergency medicine which runs through Wednesday. Winning team will be announced Tuesday.
