A North Carolina woman is among the survivors of the deadly mall attack in Kenya. Bendita Malakia, 30, of Elizabeth City, was eating with a friend when gunmen rushed in and started shooting. Malakia and her friend took cover in a store where dozens found safety. She said she hoped the gunmen wouldn't come anywhere near them.
"You could hear while we were back there them methodically going from store to store talking to people asking questions, shooting, screams then it would stop for a while then they would go to another store," Malakia said.
Malakia said she and the others spent more than four hours in hiding before the Kenyan army and American security forces rescued them.
