North Charlotte church says it forgives thieves for break-ins

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A north Charlotte church that has been broken into several times posted a message to the criminals.

A marquee outside Derita Presbyterian Church says, “If you stole our stuff, we forgive you.”

The church plans to install more cameras and other security measures.

“Replacing that stuff is secondary,” said Linda Bowman with Derita Presbyterian Church. “It's much better to have the church campus open and be welcoming to people than be locked down tight and be afraid of your neighbor.”

The most recent break-in happened this weekend.
