ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. —
The attorney for the family of missing Rowan County teen Erica Parsons calls allegations his clients set fire to their own home “absurd.”The lawyer told Channel 9 Casey and Sandy Parsons have not been interviewed by any investigators since the flames first broke out in the kitchen of their abandoned Salisbury home last week. The Parsons arrived at the Salisbury courthouse Tuesday for a regularly scheduled supervised visit with their two youngest children, Tobie and Sadie. Both children have been in the care of other family members since their adoptive sister, Erica, was reported missing more than two months ago.Just hours before, Channel 9 spotted FBI agents leaving a meeting with Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies.“No one has asked to talk with them or interview then or anything like that,” said attorney Carlyle Sherrill.Sherrill said his clients have not been questioned about the fire that sparked in their microwave last week.Chopper 9 flew over the house after the fire as FBI and ATF agents processed evidence in the kitchen damaged by the flames.Sandy Parsons’ father, William Steven Parsons, told Channel 9 the blaze broke out after he turned the power back on to the house. But on Tuesday, Sherrill called allegations that Sandy may have been involved in starting the fire are absurd.“Didn’t make any sense at all, in fact Sandy and Casey were not the last family members to stay there, Brooke was, their daughter,” Sherrill said.As for the Parsons' planned trip to Louisiana to find clues related to Erica’s disappearance, Sherrill said he would not advise his clients to leave the area.“I think they need to be available here, in case a lead comes or something that they need to be asked about,” he said. The Parsons will return later this month for the next step in the DSS hearing process about the custody of their children. For complete coverage on the Erica Parsons case, click here.
