Pentagon: Air Force One trips cost $180K per hour

WASHINGTON —

Earlier this week, President Barack Obama made a stop in North Carolina. He arrived in Air Force One at Raleigh-Durham International Airport and it was not a cheap flight.

The latest Pentagon calculations show Air Force One costs $179,750 an hour to operate.

Presidents do reimburse the government for the costs of their political travel, but they do so under rules that still leave taxpayers paying most of the tab.
