An east Charlotte family is sad and angry over the death of their son. Terrance Mingo, 28, was shot to death Friday night when he stepped out of his front door, according to police. It happened around 9:15 p.m. on Old Meadow Road, off of Albemarle Road.
Police said Mingo got into a dispute with the suspect at another location and the same person shot Mingo at his home Friday. Police have not said what the dispute was about, but Mingo's mother Judea Freeman said the dispute was between her son's friend and the shooter, not her son.
"He didn’t have a chance. He didn’t have a chance. He didn't know what hit him," said Freeman.
Neighbors said Mingo was respectful and kind. Many said he was always willing to help.
"It's almost like you lost a son or a nephew or someone close to you," said Vena White.
Police have not released a description of the suspect, but said the shooter left the neighborhood in a gray colored Chevy Impala. If you've seen it call CMPD.
