CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Police are trying to identify a man they said robbed a convenience store in east Charlotte.

The man walked into a Citgo on Albemarle Road around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and demanded money from the cashier, according to police. Investigators said he was armed with a handgun.

The suspect fled the store after getting the money, officers said.

Police said the suspect is described as a black man who is approximately 150 to 160 pounds and has dreadlocks and a goatee. He was wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans a white T-shirt and black shoes, investigators said.
