A city of Monroe spokesperson said Monroe police is still investigating in the case of a Union County teacher accused of a sex offense with a student. Officers are looking to see if there are any other alleged incidents or alleged victims.
Thursday, Diana Farnell was taken into custody. A city spokesperson says she turned herself in. She has been charged with sex offense with a student. Hours after she was taken to the jail, she made bail and was released.
Eyewitness News stopped by her Fort Mill home Friday, but no one answered.
According to court paperwork about her release, because of the charge, she is not to communicate with the alleged victim and is to stay away from his home, school and work.
The police report states he is 17 years old. The arrest warrant says he was a student at Union Academy Charter School in Monroe at the time of the alleged incident and that Farnell was a teacher there. The paperwork says the alleged incident happened sometime during the past year.
On Thursday, a fellow teacher told Eyewitness News off camera that Farnell was a good teacher and a good friend and that she would be surprised if the allegations are true.
