Police: Copper theft in Statesville on the rise

STATESVILLE, N.C. —

Police in Statesville said a crime that has plagued them for months is back on the rise.

In the past week, officers said they have received several reports of copper being stolen from vacant homes.

Nearly 20 similar cases have been reported since late September, and in nearly every case the homes have been vacant.
