A 2-year-old girl was clearly happy to go from the back of an ambulance and into her mother's arms after police said the girl's father left the child in a car while he went into a Walmart.
Police said she was left there for at least 10 minutes. Walmart security and police were able to get her out of the car. The girl's father was arrested.
They said she was flushed, but otherwise OK.
As police arrested the father, he had little to say to Channel 9 about what happened.
His wife was allowed to take the girl home, but she had plenty of questions for her husband.
"It's very upsetting. I don't think he meant any harm but obviously it's a messed-up thing to do," said Harriet Newlander.
The incident was also upsetting to other people in the shopping center who heard about what happened, wondering how anyone could leave their young child alone in the car with temperatures today in the upper 80s.
"That's just really not using common sense at all. It's careless and I'm glad the police were called," said customer Luz Aveleyra.
