Statesville police are investigating an armed robbery at a Sonic restaurant at 630 Sullivan Road, according to a news release.

The victim was walking in the parking lot when the robber approached from behind, pushed him to the ground and held him there. The release stated the robber held a knife to the side of the victim and told him to stay there.

The robber took the victim's wallet and then fled on foot.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

The suspect was described as a young black man with a skinny build wearing a gray shirt and black jacket.

The victim was not hurt.
