SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. —
Police are investigating the deaths of a Sampson County father and a daughter as a murder-suicide. They said Carlos Vasquez killed himself and 18-year-old Itzel at a house in Turkey, but 10 years ago Carlos pulled his daughter out of a burning house, saving her life. That fire killed her brother and mother. Family members found the bodies on Monday. They think that Carlos might have been upset over issues with his estranged second wife. "He was all happy that she was coming, and she went back to Texas and that made him sad. I guess that made him kill his daughter and himself," said nephew, Hohn Vazquez. Police hope the autopsy results reveal more information. Until they get those results they will not reveal how the two were killed.
