Detectives with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating a homicide on Stonehenge Lane, according to a news release.
Police received the call at 11:47 p.m. Wednesday about shots fired. After arriving, they were notified that a man was at the 3200 block of Beatties Ford Road suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Bob David Pate Jr., 25, died around 3 p.m. Thursday at the hospital, according to a release.
Eyewitness News spoke to the manager of the BP gas station on Beatties Ford Road. He said a woman drove the victim there after he was shot.
"She came over, run the curb in a hurry, got out and screamed for help," Joe Adu said.
Detectives canvassed the area to speak with witnesses. Police said they believe Pate and the shooter knew each other and had an argument that led to the shooting.
