CHARLOTTe, N.C. —
Police arrested a man at Charlotte-Douglas Airport for saying he had a bomb in his bag.
According to police, he said it while trying to board a U.S. Airways flight.
Now 24-year-old Felipe Martin is in jail on $20,000 bond.
Police charged Martin with making a false bomb report at a public building, which is a felony.
They tell us Martin was in line to board a flight just before 8 p.m. Saturday when two U.S. Airways employees questioned him about what was in his carry-on bag.
Police say Martin told them he had a bomb and then said it again when employees asked him to clarify what he meant.
The TSA searched his bag and did not find a bomb.
Eyewitness News asked a U.S. Airways spokesperson what prompted the employees to ask Martin about his luggage, but while she said there must be some kind of "cause," she did not know what it was.
Some passengers were shocked when they heard about the arrest.
"That's just unbelievable," Shari Ricks said. "I just can't even believe that. What is wrong with people these days? It's just crazy."
Police said Martin is from Ohio. Eyewitness News asked U.S. Airways what flight he was trying to board but they did not respond.
