CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Police are on increased patrols Wednesday night because of so-called blackout Wednesday.

The night before Thanksgiving is extremely busy for bars and drunk driving.

Eyewitness News looked up federal research Wednesday that shows Thanksgiving weekend is more deadly on the roads than New Year's Eve.

Police sources told Channel 9 they're patrolling uptown and state troopers are patrolling highways.
