MONROE, N.C. —

Monroe police are searching for two men who robbed a business and three employees at gunpoint.

One of the robbers had a handgun and the other had a sawed-off shotgun when they burst into Springleaf Financial Services on Wednesday afternoon.

Workers told police both men had their faces covered and wore white socks on their hands.

They took the victims' credit cards, cash, cellphones, jewelry and medicine.

They even took one woman's late husband's wedding band. She was wearing it on a chain around her neck.

"Having her husband recently pass and having that sentimental ring from him taken from her was very upsetting," said Sgt. Mike Smith.

The robbers are described as black men in their mid-20s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall.

One was wearing a black shirt with a yellow stripe. The other was wearing a red hoodie.

They may have left in a dark gray van.
