Navonia Dixon said she clawed and screamed the best she could to fight off an attacker late Saturday.
"Finally I quit struggling, and I said, 'Lord, if you're going to take me, take me,'" Dixon said.
The 79-year-old said she then blacked out. When she came to, Kannapolis police were at her front door.
Police said Dixon's daughter, Tamara Bresett, concocted a story about what happened that night. They said Bresett said two men forced their way into her home, pointed a gun at her and assaulted her mother.
After a few interviews, police said Bresett's story began to change and they arrested her Tuesday.
She's accused of attacking her own mother.
Police said Bresett stole Dixon's prescription medication.
"It was so hard to believe. I have always stuck by my kids," Dixon said.
Bressett remains behind bars on $200,000 bond on felony charges of assaulting a handicapped person and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
