CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Kids could soon start seeing a new lineup of foods at school.

The agriculture department is proposing new rules for food sold at schools – in the cafeteria, vending machines and snack bars.

Items would have to meet sodium, fat, calorie and sugar limits.

The new rules could mean 100 percent juice instead of high-calorie sports drinks, and yogurt and dried fruit could swap out snacks like ice cream.
