Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, arrived in Charlotte on Tuesday. The plane just touched down in Charlotte Douglas Airport just before 3:30 p.m.

He will attend the evening program of the Democratic National Convention.

Preparations for the Bidens' arrival have already begun.  Secret Service did not allow Channel 9 cameras onto the tarmac until 12:30 p.m.

The Air National Guard base has been through this drill plenty of times, most recently Monday when the first lady arrived in Charlotte.

Channel 9 learned that Biden is not scheduled to make any remarks at the airport.  He doesn’t have anything scheduled until Tuesday night when he will be at the arena for Michelle Obama’s speech.

Biden will speak Thursday at Bank of America Stadium.

Jill Biden will speak at several events on Wednesday, including the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders caucus meeting and the Youth Council meeting.

On Thursday, she will participate in a USO service project with first lady Michelle Obama. She is scheduled to speak at the DNC at 9:25 p.m. that night.
