CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
As rain moves through the metro area Tuesday morning, snow showers will continue in the mountains.
This won't be a large snowfall, but a few inches of accumulation can be expected, especially at higher elevations. This is leading to slick travel already Tuesday morning.
Avery, Ashe and Watauga county schools are all closed Tuesday due to the snow in the mountains.
A mixing of rain and sleet is possible in some areas Tuesday morning.
The rain in Charlotte will last through midday before things dry up quickly Tuesday afternoon.
Some sunshine could appear later in the day.
While the morning commute is turning wet, the afternoon commute will be dry.
Much more sunshine and dry weather returns Wednesday through Thursday. More rain in on the way for Friday.
