RALIEGH, N.C. —

A Raleigh Police officer is expected to be OK after he was shot trying to arrest a murder suspect.

Friday afternoon the officer and his partner were called to an auto parts store where they found a man shot and killed.

Later that night the two officers were able to track down the suspect.

Investigators said the suspect fired a shotgun at both of the officers and hit one of them in the arm.

The officers returned the fire and shot the suspect in the chest.

The suspect is currently in the hospital and will be arrested once he recovers.
