Police evacuated the Iredell County Fairgrounds after a bomb threat against the Troutman Relay for Life event Friday afternoon.
Police did not take any chances at the event that benefits cancer research.
They cleared out the fairgrounds, brought in a bomb-sniffing dog and searched the entire area.
Executive Director for the Charlotte-area American Cancer Society Brooke Moose said, "It's always a devastating call to get, but I think the volunteers and local authorities did a great job of making sure that the crowd knew what was going on and make sure everybody was safe."
Police didn't find anything suspicious and the event started only a few minutes late.
