Investigators believe they have found the body of a Taylorsville man who was reported missing in April.
A town employee was clearing the area behind an old hospital on N.C. 16 in Taylorsville on Monday when he spotted a pair of boots. Police said he went over to investigate and discovered a set of skeletal remains.
Officers determined the remains were likely those of Kevin McDonagh, 62.
McDonagh, who suffered from dementia, disappeared after walking away from A New Outlook assisted living center.
The remains have been sent to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to determine the cause of death.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Alexander County Crime Stoppers at 828-632-8555.
