MOORESVILLE, N.C. —
A restaurant is receiving criticism from across the country for asking a local war hero to leave.
Marine Corps Cpl. Garret Carnes lost parts of both legs, fighting in Afghanistan and his very emotional homecoming to Mooresville was in April.
This weekend, Carnes came home from Walter Reed Medical Center to go to the Carolina Panthers game but, when he wore a Cowboys shirt to the Moosehead Bar and Grill.
Carnes' family said he and his wife were threatened by other customers, then asked to leave by the restaurant.
The restaurant owner told Channel 9 tonight, he's sorry for how Carnes was treated and that his workers were just trying to keep the peace.
