A retired Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer is working to help victims of Sandy get back on their feet.
Retired officer Chris Fisher hopes to fill a tractor-trailer with dog and cat food and other supplies and then drive it to police officers and firefighters in New York and New Jersey on Thursday.
In addition to pet food, Fisher is asking for donations of bleach, flashlights, diapers, generators, socks, protein bars, boots, brooms, rubber gloves, regular gloves, fabric softener, paper products and plastic utensils, Lysol wipes, garbage bags, canned goods, batteries and baby formula.
Donations can be dropped off at CFS Logistics at 3410 Oak Lake Blvd. in Charlotte. The drop-off hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. The last day to donate is Wednesday.
