Runners take to the streets for annual marathon

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Runners who missed out on New York City’s marathon got a second chance Saturday in Charlotte.

Hundreds of people lined the streets to cheer them on.

The Thunder Road Marathon is an annual 26-mile trek.

Any runners who couldn't run in New York after Superstorm Sandy were offered a discounted registration fee.

The race wasn’t fun for drivers as it forced a number of road closures.
