SOUTH CAROLINA —

South Carolina students will start riding to school in brand new buses.

The state's superintendent said nearly 350 buses up to 28 years old will be switched out.

Some of the old rides have logged more than half a million miles.

The new arrivals will replace all models dating from 1984 through 1987, plus a few from 1988.

Students in the area will get to ride on some of those new buses.

York, Chester, Chesterfield and Lancaster Counties will receive a combined total of 34 new buses.
