CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. —
South Carolina residents got their first change to weigh in on Charlotte's program to spread sewage sludge near their homes.
The state is requiring CMUD to reapply for its long-standing permit to dump bio-solids on about 6,000 acres, mostly in Chester County.
CMUD said it is a harmless fertilizer for farms and heavily regulated.
Opponents complain about the odor and worry about possible long-term health issues.
