MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. —

South Carolina may feel a little crowded this summer.

The director of the state’s tourism department said this will be the year the $15 billion industry hits pre-recession levels.

He said South Carolina led the nation in 2012 in revenue per available room, a key tourism measure.

He will share more of his predictions Monday at the state’s three-day tourism and travel conference in Columbia.

People traveling to Myrtle Beach this summer can now pay parking meters with a credit card.

More than 80 credit-capable meters are going in downtown, in addition to the more than 50 that went out last year.
