CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
The high temperature reached 93 degrees Thursday, which marks the hottest day this season. The heat index reached near 100 degrees.A north wind is already starting to dry the area out and it will cap any big thunderstorm outbreak. Expect a one-day break Friday with lower temperatures, lower humidity and no rain chance before all return for the holiday weekend. Sunday afternoon appears to have the best chance for a late-day thunderstorm. Labor Day may be the hottest day before another cold front brings more relief for the middle of next week.
