CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A shooting in a west Charlotte neighborhood left one person dead and police said they are still searching for the gunman.

The call came in just after noon Sunday in the 3000 block of Tuckaseegee Road. When police arrived, they found 24-year-old Keith Houston shot and lying near a fire hydrant.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Police spent all afternoon canvassing the area, searching for any leads.

One man said he wasn't surprised to hear that a killing happened in his neighborhood.

"It happens like that all the time, it's always something going on over here," says resident Desmond Phillips.

In the past year, there has been one homicide, three armed robberies and one hit-and-run along Tuckaseegee Road.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective. Detective Grande is the lead detective assigned to the case. In addition, you may also call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
