The woman accused of killing two people on a motorcycle in a drunken hit-and-run accident last week was charged this morning with murder.
Amie Jo Skeens, 37, of Hickory was charged just before noon with two counts of second-degree murder, according to Trooper Cody Smith with the N.C. State Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened just before 6 p.m. on Oct. 25, claiming the lives of Kevin Moody, 19 and his father Stephen Moody, 42. Two others were injured.
Investigators believe Skeens crossed the centerline on Airport Rhodhiss Road, striking two westbound motorcycles. She then left the scene, but was captured a short time later because a witness followed her 1999 Dodge Caravan.
Skeens is being held at the Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility under a $160,000 secured bond. Her first appearance on the new charges is Monday.
