CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A stabbing in a southeast Charlotte community has neighbors on alert.

Police said a man was stabbed on Burkland Drive in the Grier Heights community early Sunday afternoon.

MEDIC took him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Eyewitness News spoke to one woman who has a 7-year-old granddaughter who lives in the area.

She didn't want her face shown.

“Some days, when I come over to see her, she will be outside playing and she doesn't know anything about running when people are getting hurt or nothing like that,” the woman said.

Police have not released the victim's name. They said they didn’t have any suspects in custody.
